Behind the Seams: An Interview with Designer Allison Webb

Next up in our featured designer series is Allison Webb! Here at Ladies of Lineage we like to refer to Allison as our "sweet Georgia peach," known for her beautiful, lightweight gowns that are perfect for a southern summer wedding. Allison grew up in Georgia and moved to NYC after college to further her fashion career. She started out working for iconic brands such as Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, ANN Inc, and J. Crew, specifically focusing on embellishments and embroidery, before she started her namesake collection. From her website, "Allison Webb's collection is the embodiment of elevated elegance. Filled with clean lines, exquisite laces, and touches of delicate embroideries, the gowns are hand-crafted to amplify a bride's natural beauty. The designs, like the Allison Webb bride, are refined, modern, and imbued with a timeless sense of polish and sophistication."

How would you describe the Allison Webb bride?

The Allison Webb bride is confident, elegant, and modern. She wants to feel beautiful and feel like herself on her wedding day. She wants to wear the gown--not have the gown wear her.

What do you think will be the next big bridal trend and what is on the way out?

After COVID-19 I thought that girls would want something more simple, but I've found that they want something with more drama because they have more resources to use due to having smaller weddings. A lot of girls are tired of not dressing up for the last 6 months and are ready to go all out! In terms of what's out, I would say no more fluffy tulle skirts with layered horsehair trim.

Do you have a favorite quote or affirmation you tell yourself?

Never forget that it's a privilege to do what you love.

Is there anything you wish brides knew before shopping?

Just like the guy, it's okay to stop shopping when you've found the right one--even if it's at the first store.

If you could make a custom wedding gown for one celebrity who would it be and why?

Margot Robbie--she can pull off anything and she's so classically beautiful. The design options would be endless!

If you know your enneagram number, what is it? Do you think this relates to your design style?

I'm a 3! Definitely relates to my design style because 3's are known as the achievers. We are known for refined taste and image and beauty are important, as is the drive to accomplish tasks.

What do you do to relax and escape the wedding world?

I'm a huge health and fitness nut. I love exercising, especially barre classes and hanging out with friends. We love to try different restaurants in the city and go on weekend trips around New York!

We are so excited to have Allison Webb's 2021 Trunk Show here in the Charlotte showroom from October 23-24, 2020. For more information and to book your appointment to try on her newest gowns, click HERE.
