Wedding dress shopping should be the easiest part of the wedding planning process. At Ladies of Lineage, we're redefining the bridal gown shopping experience. Let our trained style consultants help you find the wedding dress perfect for the personality, style and budget. Just getting started and have lots of questions? Read through the most frequently asked questions by our brides. Don't hesitate to contact us if your questions have not been answered.
How far in advance should I begin searching for my wedding dress?
We recommend beginning your wedding dress search at least eight months prior to your portrait and/or wedding date, whichever comes first. Most designs deliver in 4-6 month and we recommend a full two months for alterations.
What should I bring with me to my appointment?
Most importantly, bring an open mind. We don't try on wedding dresses every day and often times what is seen on a hanger does not reflect how a gown will look on our body. Since you're trying on ivory gowns, we recommend white or nude undergarments. If you are more comfortable in shape wear, bring it, you can choose whether or not you wish to wear it when you arrive.
Do you have gowns in my budget?
Ladies of Lineage now offers two locations with two different price points.
Charlotte, NC $1500 - $8000
Fort Mill, SC $700 - $5000
How long is my appointment?
We block an hour and a half for your initial appointment. Any future appointments, an hour is blocked for you. Looking to schedule an accessory appointment? With our trained consultants, thirty minutes does the trick.
Who should I bring with me to my appointment?
You should limit your entourage, trust us on this one. Two to three of your trusted pals or family members are more than enough opinions when it comes to the dress. You'll have a trained style consultant that will help you narrow down your search based on your personality, style and budget. We ask that you limit your entourage to four guests due to the limited space in our boutique. If you end up with more people, please call the showroom and we will try to accommodate as best we can.
What size are your gowns?
Gown sizes range from 8-12 however, depending on the gown silhouette we also have size 14-16 in the mix. Our style consultants are trained to clip the dresses to size them down as well as panel designs that may need to be sized up. You're in great hands, we'll make sure you're able to see yourself walking down the aisle no matter your silhouette.
Will I need alterations?
Alterations are always necessary and are an additional cost. We do offer two on-sight seamstresses that are available first-come, first-served and have limited availability during the weekdays ONLY. We also have a select list of seamstresses who are available off-site should your schedule not be as flexible.
What is a trunk show?
Trunk shows are a great opportunity for brides to see an entire collection from a designer. When designs are hand-selected for the showroom, 4-6 designs will be chosen from a collection that may contain 15-30 designs. When our boutique hosts a trunk show, the designer will send in their most recent collection for brides to view and try on for the weekend. Often times designers allow discounts or incentives on these weekends.
What is a Sample Sale?
Ladies of Lineage hosts two sample sales a year. A sample sale is when past season inventory is discounted 30-70% off the original retail price. Sample sales usually take place on a Friday for four hours and inventory is first-come, first-served. All sales are final and a gown cannot be returned or exchanged for additional items.
